Lucy's Surgery Fund: A Second Chance
Donation protected
We recently adopted Lucy from a shelter a couple of months ago. My 17 year old three legged dog passed in December and we were totally lost. When we went to the shelter and heard Lucy’s story, barely a year old, just got done weaning puppies, and had hip dysplasia as well as a torn CCL, we had to meet her. We were well versed in orthopedic issues with dogs from our previous boy, and knew she would be passed over because of her injury. We were told that she did not need surgery at that time and she had been cleared for adoption. My husband and I did know she would probably need surgery at a later date. After her visit with my vet, it was recommended we take her to an orthopedic specialist. Now we find out that she has tears in both her hind legs and needs bilateral TPLO surgery. The cost of the surgery alone is $10,800, then we have the PT after the surgery also. I do work a full time job, as well as a part time job, and my husband, who was forcefully retired a little over a year ago, receives social security and works a part time job also. We are both in our 60’s but, we do what we have to to keep up and help our kids and others who need help. It is a bit uncomfortable for me to post this, but, Lucy is such a sweet girl, she loves everybody and every animal she meets, well, maybe she isn’t to crazy about squirrels, but, she deserves to have a good life. Anything would help and be appreciated. If you know of any financial grants for a situation like this, could you please share the info in the comments. Because she was diagnosed previous to our adoption, none of this is covered by insurance. I do understand that everybody is going through the same financial situations we are, so, again, anything that helps, Pennie’s, information, would be appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. And, in case anybody wonders, she is a Pittbull mix, was originally from South Carolina, and was mov d up to a rescue in Massachusetts, then to second shelter in Massachusetts, which is where we found her.
