I am an animal lover, always have been. My dogs have always had my heart and they are family to me. My husband was NOT a dog person until this scruffy little black Scotchie stole his heart. We rescued Lucy from a sketchy situation at 6 weeks. We nursed her into happy health and we were in love. The other 3 dogs (2 big basset hounds and a fiesty chorkie) were not so sure about this little diva but they became a family in no time. We learned that Lucy had been abused as a puppy long after I’d lost those peoples info:/ She doesn’t really bark…she squeaks because her larynx is damaged most likely from being squeezed. That made us love her even more. It made us more protective of her than ever because that little girl decided that my husband, Rick, was her human and that was that. Get it?! Ricky and Lucy lol
That man has never loved an animal the way he loves Lucy and it’s heartwarming and a beautiful thing to see. He has type 1 diabetes and when he’s fighting blood sugar numbers, she is RIGHT by his side and will not leave him. She stole our hearts and now it feels like our hearts are being broken.
Lucy is sick and we don’t know why. She isn’t herself at all. Her sass is missing. Her Mischievousness is missing. She’s lost weight, doesn’t want to play, and now has blood in her stools. So we are absolutely melting down. You see…we are both on disability and can’t work. Things get tight and we make things work with Gods help ..until recently. I had 2 heart attacks 6 weeks ago and cannot return to doing any kind of anything until after 2 heart surgeries. My meds are ridiculously expensive and we just don’t have the funds to take her to the vet. Which haunts me. I can’t find any vet that will take payments and any non-profits that help say it will take 3-5 days for approval. Lucy can’t wait 3-5 days. I’ll be back in the hospital if she has to wait! We have a vet that has treated all of our dogs over time and they will see her tomorrow (8/1) at 1:30 pm for a physical assessment, blood work, X-rays, parasite screening and other stuff they may need to do.
Our basset hounds both passed after long happy lives, one going just over a year ago. So now the family is down from 4 to 2. Leonidas, the Chorkie with a fauxhawk, is her other half. He knows she doesn’t feel good because he won’t leave her side and is being so gentle with her. If she goes, I believe he will follow before long and my heart will be shattered. So we have to try.
if you can help, please know that the humans will be sobbing in gratitude of every cent or prayer. If you can’t please know we understand and ask that you just pray for her. She’s an amazing little thing.
thank you for your consideration ❤️
