Lucy’s Kidney Transplant Journey

As some of you may know, my sister Lucy was diagnosed 10 years ago with a condition called Polycystic Kidney Disease, or PKD for short. Since her diagnosis, she has experienced periods of stable kidney function, as well as times of function decline. Bringing her beautiful boy, Bailey, into the world has meant her kidney function has decreased significantly. As a result she requires a kidney transplant. Enter her compatible sister! After a series of tests, and many big family discussions, I will be donating one of my kidneys to Lucy later this year.

Whilst the transplant itself is expected to go smoothly, there will be weeks, if not months of recovery for Lucy and myself, including a large period of time off work. I am reaching out to you for support as we traverse this monumental journey. Funds donated will go towards loss of income, travel expenses, groceries and pre-made meals, child-minding costs etc. Anything that makes life a little easier for both our families throughout the period of transplant and subsequent recovery.

We are so grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small. Here’s to getting my beautiful sister back to optimal health!
