Lucy's fight against bone cancer

Lucy is 8 years old. In January this year, she started experiencing pain in her left leg. Usually a very sporty, active child; Lucy started refusing to walk, scoot or cycle to school. Her mum (Helga) took her to the GP and, on the 27th January they referred Lucy to the children's assessment ward at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital for an x-ray and MRI scan of her left femur. 
The results revealed the devastating news that these were not growing pains, but an aggressive form of bone cancer called Osteosarcoma. Something that was confirmed by a biopsy at the Royal National Orthopaedic hospital in Stanmore.

Lucy started chemotherapy on the 16th February. In 6 weeks time Lucy will undergo major surgery to remove her left femur and completely replace her hip, femur and knee with a metal implant. This will be followed by more chemotherapy and rehabilitation. 

How can we help? 

With such a drastic procedure, Lucy is looking at 1-2 years of rehabilitation In order to be able to walk independently again.

With a powered wheelchair Lucy will be able to gain more of her independence back and to continue in the sports she loves, such as tennis and Modern Sword Fighting. 

Helga is also looking at costly bills to make the garden and bathroom of their family home wheelchair accessible. 

I have set a target of £10,000. In hope that this will be enough to cover all of these costs.. I know its a lot of money, but Lucy, Helga and Leo (Lucy's brother) could do with all the support that we can offer. Helga has said that any money left over will be donated to a children's charity.
