Lucy Emmanuelle's Medical Bills

Donation protected
Our daughter, Lucy Emmanuelle, was born at 8:05 AM on December 14, 2021 weighing 1 lb 10 oz and 12 1/4 inches long. At 25 weeks and 5 days gestation, she is considered a micro-preemie. After 8 days in the hospital, I am back home with our 2 year old, but we have many months of NICU care ahead of us for Lucy. The doctors estimate that she will be here until her original due date, March 24, 2022.

Lucy is doing remarkably well so far and has been off of her ventilator for a few days and is breathing on her own. She has worked her way up to 4 cc's of milk per feeding (in her feeding tube) and has completed one round of light therapy for jaundice. We expect to be able to hold her for the first time next week.

Big sister Junie is only somewhat aware of what's going on and has been struggling with all of the upheaval. After 8 days apart, I am so thankful to be home with her, but Jonathan and I are already finding it difficult to split our time and emotional energy between the two girls.

We are so thankful for the many, many people who have come around us to support us with food, childcare, prayers, and gifts. Some friends have specifically asked about donating towards medical costs and we are so humbled by everyone's generosity. We are so lucky to have decent health insurance through Jonathan's job. Unfortunately, the timing isn' t the best. Since Lucy and I were hospitalized in December, we'll have to meet our out-of-pocket max for 2021 and then start over again meeting our deductible and then paying until we reach our out-of-pocket max for 2022. Thankfully, we have employers that are willing to work with us as we navigate the months ahead, but the medical bills will certainly be higher than what we anticipated for a normal birth. We are so grateful for your help and support.

We do also have an Amazon Wishlist which we will update as we learn more about what we need for Lucy. Since we were living in Hong Kong for Junie's birth - 18 months, we don't have a lot of the infant items (much less preemie items) we will need. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/X30QBC5CE3JG?ref_=wl_share
