I've come to the realization that I can't do it all on my own, and that I need to swallow my pride and ask for help. The vet said we've caught Lucy's lymphoma early enough that she has a favorable chance to achieve remission, which he's seen just about an 80% success rate in achieving with chemotherapy. Her quality of life is outstanding, and other than this disease, she's still a very happy, active, playful, and loving member of this family. To nip it in the bud we need to move fast, so she can stay that way. This will hopefully buy us at least another year with Miss Lucy. The downside, obviously, is that the treatment is costly, with a lot of visits to the vet. Treatment is estimated in the range of $7,000-$9,000, not including the costs of the additional testing and appointments with the veterinary specialist. I am asking my friends, family, other dog lovers to please find it in yourself to consider lending us a hand. Nothing is too small, and anything really helps. Lucy has never given up on me, getting me through so much to have me here today. She's such a gentle and loving spirit that touches everyone that meets her. I can't bring myself to just give up on her and not at least try, especially when she has such a realistic chance at remission.
