As we settle into the fall season and are quieting down from the summer heat, we are asking for your support in helping Lucretia to recover from surgery with the restfulness and ease she deserves.

 

Lucretia is our beloved friend, daughter, sister, aunt, teacher, mentor, community organizer, grassroots fundraiser, and farmer. Lucretia gives so much of her time and energy and love to her QTBIPOC community, her family, her friends, and now is the time for us to give some of that love and generosity back.

 

A little bit more about Lucretia:

 

Lucretia is dedicated to working across differences to build community for racial and gender justice, healing, and transformation. This life work has been actualized through community organizing, grantmaking, resource sharing, food justice, and connecting to and implementing strategies for long-term individual, communal, and ecological sustainability. A graduate of Farm School NYC, she has convened spaces for QTPOC and POC farmers, foodies, and food justice workers for visibility and relationship building. The daughter of Guyanese immigrants, her vision is deeply rooted in seeking out and sharing stories of migration, land, and agriculture. A longtime science nerd and community organizer, initially Lucretia came to urban farming for her own healing and self-care. Along the way, she discovered not only renewal and restoration but also the ways that nature speaks to the cycles of relationships in life.

 

 

Lucretia will be getting surgery on October 14th, 2021 to remove fibroids that have been impacting her mobility, energy levels and overall health. Because of our crappy health care system, she needs to fundraise for her deductible ($3,300) plus post op care, meals and transportation. Funds will help Lucretia recover without the worry of coming up with all this money up front. Your support will enable Lucretia to have a restful, nutritious, abundantly caring healing process she needs and deserves.

 

Surgery and hospitalization fees - $3,300

Food for a month (3 meals x day) - $1,300

Transportation to doctor appointments (about $40, estimating 5 roundtrip rides) - $200

Herbal consultation and herbal support (tinctures, teas, etc.,) - $400

Misc. Supplies for recovery (pillows, bandages, etc) - $300
