Lucky To Be Alive - Help support Tony as he recovers!
Donation protected
My brother Tony was in a horrific car accident on Velp, April 1st. He was in his van, alone and had just left home. Turning onto Velp, he was hit head-on by another driver going 80+ on the city street. Many people who witnessed the accident, including police and first responders, were amazed there were any survivors. Tony was rushed to the hospital where they found multiple compound fractures of his right tibia. They also found whiplash and some swelling along the spinal cord but no TBI, which was a big concern for them. He knows how lucky he is and, in true Tony fashion, has been cracking jokes and keeping the mood light for everyone within earshot!
If you talk to Tony about the accident, one topic always comes up and he even gets choked up discussing it. What he feels the most grateful for are all of the people who have helped him. Immediately following the accident, people jumped into action. One pulled him away from the smoking vehicle, an off-duty first responder and a former army medic took care of him until the ambulance arrived. Witnesses were even approaching Kristy to explain what they saw and offering up their contact info in case it's needed in the future. Friends and family are going above and beyond to do what they can.
Unfortunately, these life-changing moments usually come with a price. Tony has had two surgeries so far and a five-day hospital stay. His home will need some adjustments to get through the 6-12 month recovery period, physical therapy, and so many other expenses that come with these kinds of injuries. From what we've heard, the driver of the other vehicle doesn't have insurance so that's why we are turning to all of you.
We understand that times are tight for us all so if you can't donate, please just send this message on to others. All money donated is going directly to Tony and will be used for medical bills and any other expenses related to the accident.
