Hey Im Sarah, i am raising money to help pay for my cats emergency vet bills.
Lucky Mittens was my 13year old diabetic kitten. He was in the hospital for DKA caused from acute pancreatitis. I have had to pull him from the hospital after a 4 night stay as financially we could not continue with the aggressive er services required for recovery for the recommended time frame. Due to his significant decline over the course of the stay, we have made the heart breaking decision to let him go. We had brought him home for a day so that he can be with us for one day of rest, prior to saying goodbye.
Unfortunately the urgent need to take him to the vet and the er, has left my partner and i in a very tight financial position. We had to look to scratch pay to help afford the hospital bill on top of maxing what funds we had, later adding on the cost of end of life care and memorial services on top of all this.
I have had Lucky Mittens since he was just a little baby. My older brother found him in the woods screaming for help one night. He was the only one of the litter alive due to the snow and coyotes. he was brought to me under the condition that id get to keep him if we named him Lucky, then my father added “only if we name him Mittens cause his paws are white”, as a comprise I suggested Lucky Mittens, and i got to keep him. Since then he has been my encouragement to keep going through all the many incredibly difficult times in my life. There is no word to express how much he ment to me. I wish there was more i could have done to help him and to help take away his pain. He was a cat with a big personality who found his way into many hearts. He will be missed dearly
I have never wanted to resort to fundraising but unfortunately I am not able to work at the moment due to health conditions that are not covered by my insurance, therefore have no income. My partner has taken on the financial burden of both of our bills, which now will have an added $551 a month to pay back scratch pay for the next year. In this economy, it has become incredibly difficult to stay afloat especially being unable to get back to my job. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
In loving memory of Lucky Mittens
proceeds will go toward helping pay back the debt involving Lucky Mittens emergency care, end of life services, and memorial services.
