LUCKY LADY & MAC FOUNDATION

This week has been a very difficult week. Emotionally and financially.. where do I start...
Last weekend my mare foaled a big colt. However, after a few hours we noticed he wasn't quite right, and sadly had to be taken up to Liphook equine hospital the following day as he had entropion ( a condition where the eyelids are rolled in on the eyes).
He was going to have a operation to correct this however, when the vets saw him they diagnosed him with neonatal maladjustment syndrome. AKA dummy foal syndrome. This meant he had to undergo several tests before treating his eyes, as organs, eyes, plasma and many other problems can appear in dummy foals. With many tense moments and restless days of anticipation, all tests came back negative and the operation went ahead successfully. The next 48 hours was up to him to determine whether he was going to fight for life or sadly plummet.. whilst all this was going on the mare had retained placenta which meant several wash outs to prevent septicaemia...
The next 48hours passed and I was waiting for the dreaded call..however, despite the hard time they were both facing they where rallying and heading in the right direction for recovery. Mummy (Tiponi AKA Gracie) and baby ( Casa Mckinley AKA Mac) are coming home.
As I felt relief that my mare and foal where both coming home alive, I headed off to Borde Hill horse trials with my 2 young event mares. The first horse set off and came back safe however, Lucky Lady headed off on the xc as a machine as normal and disaster struck!.. I pulled her up as she went very lame on landing from a fence. The vet on sight was concerned. Quite rightly as his diagnosis was correct. Lucky Lady has suffered a fracture in her long pastern and had to be rushed to Liphook hopstial... The next day she underwent surgery. I am glad to say she is back home now recovering however, there is no guarantee she will be able to event again.. so imagine, 3 horses at Liphook hospital in the space of a week. DISASTER!
I'm looking into ways of fundraising the money as they are not insured. Unfortunately a newborn is unable to be insured and Lucky lady was in the process of insurance changes due to change of ownerships (Talk about bad timing!). Funds are coming from myself and as you can imagine the bill is huge! so your support would be much appreciated.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank the team at Borde Hill horse trials for the care and compassion shown to myself and Lucky Lady.

Thank you again!  Any contribution would be apprecciated x
