Lucille Cole Thomas Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Dr. Lucille Cole Thomas Education Scholarship Fund is being created to recognize the very important role that she played in shaping American society, having demonstrated her indefatigable dedication to the furtherance of education and the pursuit of excellence. In that spirit, we are excited to announce the creation of an endowed scholarship honoring her many contributions to New York, America, and the world.
In recognition of the many achievements of Dr. Thomas, this scholarship at her beloved alma mater, Bennett College, Greensboro, N.C. will be endowed to establish a full-tuition scholarship for an entering freshman.

Dr. Thomas has a remarkable record of achievement in leadership in the organized profession of school librarianship -at the state, national and international level -spanning more than 60 years. Dr. Thomas has been a classroom teacher, school and public librarian, library supervisor, administrator and library educator. Her love for books and reading has influenced the lives of thousands of young people from the New York City Schools to remote areas of developing countries.
