Lucila Hernandez Funeral Costs and Family Help

Last April, Lucila Hernandez was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. Over the course of the year she battled with cancer through surgery and multiple chemotherapy treatments. Sadly, after a yearlong struggle, Lucila passed away the morning of May 9th.
She leaves behind her five children. Her oldest son is coming home from Fort Jackson and her oldest daughter is traveling from Mexico to attend the funeral. The youngest two are now in the care of her second oldest daughter, Rebeca (25). Rebeca took care of the family financially while her mother was being treated; however, these sudden and mass expenses have put a huge burden on her. The money from her income is not enough to cover these costs. Rebeca works as a waitress at Dominick’s Pizzeria in Plumsteadville so making ends meet was difficult. Now due to the pandemic, her income has been greatly reduced and cannot cover both the funeral and maintain care over her younger siblings.
This fundraiser has been organized on behalf of the family. We ask you to please donate and share this fundraiser. The loss of a mother is already difficult enough and even more so right before Mother’s Day. While we cannot show our support in person, we can show our support through online means. Each donation received shows the family that they are not alone and have support from the community.

En abril del 2019, Lucila Hernández fue diagnosticada con cáncer en los ovarios etapa tres. Durante un año, ella lucho contra el cáncer a través de cirugía y múltiples tratamientos de quimioterapia. Tristemente, después de luchar durante un año, Lucila falleció la mañana del nueve de mayo.
Le sobreviven sus cinco hijos. Su tercer hijo viaja a casa desde Fort Jackson y su hija mayor está viajando de México para venir al funeral de su madre. Los dos menores están ahora al cuidado de su segunda hija de 25 años, Rebeca. Rebeca se hizo cargo económicamente de la familia mientras que su madre recibía tratamientos para el cáncer; sin embargo, estos fuertes y repentinos gastos, han puesto una gran carga en ella. El dinero de su sueldo no es suficiente para cubrir todos los costos. Rebeca trabaja como mesera en Dominick’s de Plumsteadville y hacer que el dinero alcance, ha sido muy difícil. Debido a la pandemia, su sueldo ha sido reducido y no puede cubrir el funeral de su madre y mantener económicamente a sus hermanos menores.
