Help Cover Lucia’s Medical Bills

Donation protected
Today marks five months since we lost our daughter. On July 3rd we welcomed our first child into this world, but by July 4th, our sweet Lucia Grace passed away in our arms as we prayed and sang over her. This season hasn’t been easy. We are, and continue to be, thankful for the love and support we have felt from our amazing community.

Our hearts continue to break, and seeing the incoming bills, has made it all the more difficult. Not just emotionally, but now we have felt a significant financial blow.

While our insurance helped offset a large sum, the bills keep coming in.

We prepared for what we thought were the costs in their entirety, but unforeseen hospital expenses have continued to come in. Nothing could have prepared us for the death of our child but now the various medical bills are an ongoing hardship, and a reminder that we don’t have our daughter today. These costs are beginning to become more difficult to pay as times passes. With Daniel in school and the continuing costs of his education, we are feeling strained. A few weeks ago, we received a $35,000 bill for part of Lucia's care. Thankfully, our insurance covered a hefty chunk but we remain with almost $10,000 of costs remaining.

Needless to say, but opening these bills for Lucia’s care has been triggering as we are reliving the trauma of her death. A significant financial burden with no baby to show for it.
Reading line by line we are able to see what was done in an attempt to save her life.

Did you know it costs $1999.08 to resuscitate an infant? Our doctors pulled out all the stops in order to try and save her and for that we are thankful, but it all came at a price.
We ask for you consider praying for us or giving to help cover the excessive medical bills we have received for Lucia. Will you consider donating? Anything helps. Truly.
It’s humbling to ask for additional help as we have felt so supported in this season. We have already been so supported by our incredible community. We went back and forth on this.

We are grateful, and truly, we wouldn't be here without everyone's love and support in this season.

We can’t ask for help for the entire amount, but anything that can lighten the load this season is helpful. We think $5,000, just half of what we owe, can help us. We will work hard to pay the rest in our own. It helps to make it all more manageable.

We understand if this isn’t doable. A simple prayer can help if you are unable to donate. We know the power of prayer is strong. We’ve seen it firsthand, and are stronger for it.
Again, thank you all so much for your time, care, support, and encouragement.

Warmly,
Abi and Dani Mejia
