In April 2017 Lucia was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. It was the "shock of her life". She has been a registered nurse for the last 15 years, 13 of them at the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Rochester Minnesota. Now it's our turn to take care of her. She states," Being a nurse and caring for others is my gift to patients who are in need." Lucia is one of the most compassionate, humble caregivers I have ever met with a heart of Gold. She will be undergoing aggressive individual cancer treatment in Arizona where her parents reside.
