Lucia concert fighting hunger in Somalia

Hi, 

My name is Olivia Holmberg. This is a fundraiser to support the fight against hunger in Somalia. 

This fundraiser is started in connection to a charity concert in Amsterdam. There is no entrance fee to the concert, but we are very greatful for any contribution towards this cause. The funds gathered will go to WFP in their current work to aid the hunger crisis in Somalia.

WFP are in the race to save lives. In the next coming months famine is projected in Somalia in Baidoa and Burhakaba, in the country’s Bay region. The countries included in the Horn of Africa are suffering their worst drought in 40 years and Somalia is taking the biggest hit. 

“Malnutrition is increasing exponentially, mortality rates are also increasing significantly – it’s only really the availability of food that’s keeping us from a famine declaration at the moment, and this is thanks to the support provided by WFP and the Food Security Cluster partners.” says Laura Turner, World Food Programme (WFP) Deputy Country Director for Somalia.
