#LucaWarrior
Today we’re celebrating the one week anniversary of Luca's arrival home. He has been an absolute warrior over the last 2 months, enduring multiple brain surgeries and starting chemotherapy. He’s tougher at 19 months old than I could possibly imagine. Kevin and Lauren lived in the hospital room with him for 39 nights, and were not allowed to take visitors or leave the room because of COVID-19 hospital protocols. They too are teaching us all about warrior toughness.
We’re raising money for Kevin and Lauren to help support Luca as he continues to recover. Luca suffered a stroke during surgery. While we are confident about his long term prognosis, he unfortunately is going to require more physical and occupational therapy than we had initially hoped.
We are fortunate to receive support from our dear friends and generous local businesses through this difficult time.
We’d like to thank the Nero family and Nero Heating and Air Conditioning for stepping up and offering a Trane gas furnace or central air replacement worth up to $10,000! Please make sure you let us know that Nero sent you in the 'referred by' section on the donation payment form.
The Small family also extends a big thank you to Alice Sette for organizing a tremendous raffle, giving you the opportunity to win gift certificates from several of our favorite businesses. If you’re interested in raffle tickets, please reach out to her directly
Thanks to the initiative of the Acabbo family, we are still able to give #LucaWarrior shirts for donations over $20. We have the following available sizes: Kids: 3T 4T YS YM YL, Adult: S M L XL XXL XXXL. If you want a shirt, please let me know how many and what size in the comments or via email.
Pediatric cancer affects more families than just ours. Though this GoFundMe only supports Luca, our family has also been raising money for the Tommy Fund , a local charity that provides financial support to families whose children are undergoing treatment for pediatric cancers at the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale New Haven Hospital. So far we've been able to raise over $10,000! Please contact us if you'd like to help support the Tommy Fund in honor of Luca.
If you don’t want to use GoFundMe- you can also DM me, comment, Venmo (Andrew-Small), or email me ([email redacted]) shirt sizes, quantities, shipping addresses, raffle requests, and/or contribution receipts to the Tommy Fund or Smilow Cancer Hospital.
If you can help support Luca, or if you can help support other families fighting cancer - thank you, we love you.
If you don’t want raffle tickets or a shirt but want to contribute anyway - we are so grateful.
If you can’t contribute but can still send prayers - please keep those prayers coming, they’re working :)
