Lucas White Medical Expense Fund

I would like to tell you a survival story of one of the bravest boys I know, Lucas White.  Lucas was born, along with his twin brother Ryan, a preemie.  From the moment he was brought into this world he began a fight that most of us would have given up years ago.  Diagnosed early on with a mild form of cerebral palsy, Lucas underwent surgeries to correct his vision.  In the early years of childhood he went through extensive reconstructive surgery to straighten his legs and has been in and out of leg casts and straighteners for years.  Each time he’s been faced with a challenge, he met it head on.  He didn’t complain, other than the downtime he would have playing video games.  As Christmas approached this year, Lucas experienced a severe headache and was immediately admitted to the hospital where after several days of tests it was determined that he had a tumor and hematoma the size of 2 golf balls.  While doctors were successful in removing the masses, after biopsies, they determined that Lucas has an extremely rare cancer.  If you want to get an idea of the fight he has ahead of him, please see the medical article on Anaplastic Astrocytoma WHO Grade 3.

The cancer is so rare that physicians can only offer to treat it like any other cancer without knowing what his ultimate prognosis might be.  He is now beginning the battle of his life.  For the next 9 months he is facing extensive radiation and chemotherapy treatment.  As always, he isn’t complaining, he’s fighting it with everything he’s got.  He is the true definition of a super hero!

However, even super hero needs help from family, friends and the community to assist with medical bills, appointments, lodging, gasoline, and a myriad of daily costs associated with fighting such disease.  We want to make sure Lucas and his family aren’t spending their time worrying about mounting bills, but in fighting the disease, and in having as much of a normal life as they are able to under such trying conditions.

We ask for donations, large and small to raise funds that will go towards medical bills, transportation, lodging, and even a few fun outings for Lucas when he is physically able to enjoy them.  We will keep you updated on Lucas’ progress and show you where your money

Thank you for your donations, thoughts, and prayers.  If you cannot donate, please share this post on Facebook, and ask your Facebook friends to share it as well.  Please help us spread the word.
