Our world was turned upside down when our 6-year-old son Lucas was recently diagnosed with DIPG, a rare and aggressive brain tumor, and the leading cause of brain tumor-related deaths in children. The diagnosis was completely unexpected, and the road ahead is uncertain, but our family is standing firm in faith and fighting with everything we have.

We are currently researching clinical trial treatments that may give Lucas a chance, with promising options in Seattle and Houston. We don’t yet know which path is right for his specific tumor, but we are determined to explore every possibility and find the best hope for him.

This journey has changed our lives overnight. I have stepped away from work to be by Lucas’s side and care for him full-time. Luis has been granted FMLA leave, but because he carries Lucas’s medical insurance, he will need to return to work before long. Between lost income, travel, and the mounting costs of treatment, we were simply not prepared for the financial weight of this.
