On January 8th, my son, Lucas Talady, was hit head on by a reckless, uninsured driver while returning home from work. The other vehicle was speeding and crossed double yellow lines on a blind curve when it struck Lucas. He was entrapped for 45 minutes before being medevacced to the Medical Center of the Rockies(MCR) where he spent 2 weeks in Trauma. He is now continuing to recover at home while being monitored by the Trauma team. Lucas is progressing, but will not be cleared to work for quite some time. The family is grateful for all of the support that they have received, and are asking for continued support through this time of crisis.
Lucas' injuries include a shattered knee cap and shattered heel (2 surgeries placing 2 plates and 19 screws), fractured sterum, 2 broken ribs, 4 fractured ribs, concussion, and pseudoaneurysm of the carotid artery.
Lucas is a single father with 2 children at home and one in college. He is no longer able to continue his construction career. He has worked hard to ensure that his children have a stable home and are able to complete their schooling in the Fort Collins, CO area. Even with extensive injuries, Lucas' primary concern is the well-being of his children. Therefore, he is asking for help with medical bills, rent, a family vehicle, groceries, and other family expenses until he is able to get back on his feet. His future is unclear at this time due to the severity of his injuries and uncertainty regarding the aneurysm in his artery.
With that said, Lucas is determined to maintain a stable life for his family. He refuses to allow the irresponsibility of another to take himself and his family down. It's a long road ahead...Lucas and his kids need continued support. Please share this request, and let's help Lucas and his family heal.
