Hello everyone,

My name is Lucas Newton. I am a senior in high school and this past March I underwent a colectomy, a surgery that removed my colon, and it completely changed my life. As part of my recovery, I had to rely on lots of supplies to stay healthy and live comfortably. For me, I was fortunate to have insurance and the ability to buy what I needed, but for many others, this is not the case. There are nearly 1 million people in the U.S. living with an ostomy, and roughly 100,000 new surgeries are performed each year.

Too many people in our community and throughout the country don’t have insurance or enough coverage. They struggle monthly to pay for ostomy pouches, skin barriers, adhesives, and everything needed to live with dignity and safety. These supplies can cost $300–$600 a month depending on what is needed, a cost that many people simply cannot afford.

For my senior project, I’m organizing this fundraiser for people in need through Kindren Box Inc.. Please consider donating and sharing this fundraiser with family and friends.
