Luca's Motor Racing Dream

Luca is fast ... very fast.
He started racing gas powered go karts in November 2015 at Fast Lap Indoor Kart Racing in Las Vegas. By December he was beating all the adults, posting sub 28 second laps and everybody was asking who this kid was!
As of 05/15/2016 he holds the fastest lap at 27.68 secs.
I made a GoPro video back in December to look at his style and racing line and was impressed with what I saw:

At 10 years old, he has a natural talent for the racing line and is utterly fearless. He also shows an uncanny maturity in his determination and overtaking, choosing his important moments with instinctive precision. He's a natural racer, and those that recognize his exceptional talent at Fast Lap have all said that he will go far in this career if he so chooses. They rarely see anyone on track with this ability, let along a kid of 10!
So we need your help to start him on his path. His first season will cost about $10,000 between the purchase of the kart, his safety gear, pit crew and racing fees. It also will get a lot more expensive when things start to break - that's racing so anything helps.
I have bought a very competitive kart #5 below to race in the Junior 1 Elite class with top speeds of 55mph ...

... and secured a pit crew Italcorse America to assist and teach us on race weekends. They have 2 racers Luca's age and are the team to beat. They are also always on the lookout for new talent and have just sponsored Luca's racing buddy Evan with a new $7,500 kart and whose old kart we just purchased.

Luca's first race weekend is May 21st & 22nd 2016 before we take a 2 month haitus for the summer. Race weekend consists of practice on Saturday then qualification and 2 races on Sunday for points that count towards the National Karting Championship. We are in mid season at the moment which is not a problem for his early development.
This will be quite a step-up from what he has driven so far and we anticipate that the learning curve will be steep. He is obviously very excited and can't wait to get into his kart. Luca will be racing #8.
Luca has been obsessed with Formula 1 racing ever since he was 3 years old and it has only grown more intense since he started racing at Fast Lap. He wants to be a Formula 1 racer. With Verstappen's outstanding victory at the Spanish Grand Prix - the youngest driver to win an F1 race at 18 years & 243 days - Luca is motivated.
As he pursues his passion, we agreed that his grades come first and he will work hard to excel at school. He will continue to play soccer, giving his all in training and on the pitch when coach puts him in the game. He will also rehearse his electric guitar every day in preperation for that Jimi Hendrix solo that he loves so much!
Moving forward, we will publish a website with photos, videos, blogs and interviews at:

When you donate, include your email address so that we can send you updates on his progress.
We are tremendously appreciative of your help and donations as we take the next steps in Luca's racing development. Everything and anything helps. Our gratitude is heartfelt and boundless - thank you.
We hope to see you out on track.
