Luca, the beloved Chiweenie of my dear friend Kim, has been in extreme pain for the past 24 hours. Vets have been scrambling to figure out what is wrong with her. They just told Kim that she will need emergency surgery to remove her gallbladder which will cost between $11k-$13k or that she will need to be euthanized. 

Kim is not just a wonderful, compassionate friend and stellar dog mom, she works tirelessly everyday to provide crisis intervention services to low-income folks in the east bay to help them maintain housing stability. She does not have $11k-$13k to pay for this surgery that is necessary to save her pup’s life. 

Please offer what you can to help Kim and Luca through this crisis.

UPDATE: We have now closed donations. Thanks to all of you, Kim is going to be able to pay off her vet bill in full without going into debt! And even more importantly, she has felt so much overwhelming love and support from every corner of her life. So, while words feel woefully inadequate, thank you!! In the interest of transparency, please be aware of the following:  I (Shallyn Wells, Kim’s friend) set up this campaign for Kim to take the financial and technical burden off of her plate so she has space to grieve and process the loss of her sweet Lu. In the interest of simplifying this process for her, the money will be deposited in my name into my personal account and given to Kim in its entirety in a lump sum directly through PayPal so she can get it to her creditor/vet.
