Hello everyone, meet Luca my 13 month old vizsla. My best friend, soulmate and reason to get up every day. His name means ‘bringer of light’ and boy does he bring the brightest light into not only my life, but everyone that is lucky enough to meet him. He has the sweetest, most loving temperament, is the happiest, funniest, nuttiest personality and just down right gorgeous in every single way but…
How can life be so cruel?
At only 13 months old it’s unlikely he’ll get to celebrate his 2nd birthday. Luca went to see a specialist today and my biggest fear was confirmed. He’s been diagnosed with congenital laryngeal paralysis. Laryngeal paralysis is common in older dogs but incredibly rare in young dogs. It’s a progressive neurological disorder. As it’s so rare in young dogs, we don’t yet know if Luca’s condition will only affect his larynx or progress to affecting his hind legs as is common in older dogs.
Luca’s only hope of not dying from respiratory collapse within the next 6 months is to have tie back surgery. This surgery will allow him to breathe fully again, it doesn’t come without its complications and dogs can still die from aspiration pneumonia but I have no choice but to give Luca the chance at life. He’s too young to die. And I love him so much I can’t bear to lose him yet. Please help me give him a second chance at life. I’ve already maxed out my insurance getting to this diagnosis and the tie back procedure will cost a further £3500. Please help me by either donating or if you can’t donate as I understand money is tight nowadays please, please share far and wide to help me raise the funds to save Luca.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read this.
