Luca Martins - GB Climbing Fundraiser

Hi all,

We are raising funds for our 17yo son, Luca. As many of you will know, after many years of hard work and dedication to the sport, last year Luca was selected to the GB Climbing Team.

2023 has been his first season competing internationally, and has seen him travel to Portugal, Austria (twice), Germany and Finland for European competitions and to South Korea for the Youth World Championships.

Luca’s results have continued to improve throughout the season, and we’ve recently found out that he has once again been selected to the GB Squad for 2024.

We’re incredibly proud of his achievements, and want to support his ambitions to push even further (with a long term target of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics!), but due to a lack of overall funding in the sport, all of Luca’s travel and training costs are self-funded, and the financial burden of international competition is all too real.

We’ve been very lucky so far to have support from Chord Electronics for some travel expenses and from Rock On Climbing and Mile End Climbing Wall for equipment, but as we head into 2024 (with comps in Italy, Austria, France & China!), we really need more help to continue the journey.

All monies raised will go directly to travel to competitions and training for Luca, as he aims to gain international ranking points and transition into the senior GB team.
