LUANSHYA LIBRARY RESTORATION FUND - ZAMBIA

Donation protected
As gateways to knowledge and culture, libraries play a fundamental role in society. The resources and services they offer create opportunities for learning, support literacy and education, and help shape the new ideas and perspectives that are central to a creative and innovative community.
Thank you to the Ella Lyman Cabot Trust for a generous grant, the Luanshya Information and Learning Center is now Established and Thriving. We have 12 computers and free Wi-Fi for public use. The Center is housed in a former periodicals room in the 60-year-old town library. It is the only pristine room in the building while the rest of the establishment is disintegrating. Our next phase of this project is the restoration of the library both the interior and the exterior.

Luanshyans (Zambia) are resilient and hardworking people who have risen from the ravages of AIDS, the collapse of copper mining and covid-19. Luanshya's youth are eager and thirsty for resources to better their outcomes. The library is the one place they can access free information.

Many thanks for your consideration and generosity. We are one world. Educated and healthy youth are the future.
