A doctoral candidate in music at the University of Southern California was sitting in rehearsal one day and posed the question to his colleagues, “Do you want to put on an opera this summer?” From that question, a new opera company was born, Livin’ the Dream Opera Theater.
The premise behind this company is to give young music professionals a chance to share their art and other talents in a self-made opportunity. Our founder, Anthony Moreno, wanted to utilize the skills and talents of the artists both on and off the stage. Each artist will not only be cast in a role in this opera, but will also be contributing to the administrative success of the company. This will include being involved with stage management, fund raising, marketing, and so on. Opera is a passion for all of our artists but each has so much more to offer. Bringing together a group of musicians leads not only to great music, but to creative artistic ingenuity.
For its inaugural season, Livin’ the Dream Opera Theater will be mounting a production of Mozart’s comedic opera, Così fan tutte. This great and ever-entertaining story, will be given a modern twist. To sum it up: a crazy night in Vegas.
Livin’ the Dream Opera Theater is incredibly enthusiastic about the opportunity to start something so new and continue to make opera an art form for the people to enjoy. To do this, we have started this fund to ask for your support. Your generosity will be used to help support the artistic creations of everyone involved and help make our company premier production an entertaining and exciting one.
