Help send-a-GUND-bear to long term care for $19
Donation protected
Bears aren't going to fix the bigger obstacles that long term care homes are facing but they could offer some much needed joy, companionship and comfort right now. #lovedelivered
We are sending new GUND teddy bears (as shown above) to long term care homes in the Waterloo Region to help comfort residents who are isolated during the COVID-19. Any donation amount is appreciated. A donation of $19 will send one bear and a whole lotta love.
Each bear is sent with a card letting the recipient know that they are loved and have not been forgotten.
"The bears were a big hit!" *****

Why Bears? Why Now?
Long term care is a very special place full of all kinds of heroes and loved ones (both caregivers and residents).
My heart aches every time I hear stories about long term care residents who are isolated during this pandemic.

Excerpt from an article dated May 18, 2020 by Moira Welsh titled, [Isolated and lonely, ‘caged’ seniors driven to despair — and defiance]
From the confines of her nursing-home room, Sharron Cooke can hear cries of loneliness.
“Hello … Is anybody there? Hello?”
Disembodied voices calling for someone, anyone, go unanswered.

Too often, the elderly live forgotten. My parents, who have both since passed in long term care, loved their bears.
During this pandemic I have been asking myself every day, how can we help?
There was one idea that wouldn’t go away and here we are!
Campaign Update
Our goal is to send as many teddy bears as we can during COVID-19.
The goal amount will be increased as we receive more requests and donations.
