On January 30th, 2021, Lt. Edward Vasquez a 16 year veteran of the fire service, passed away from complications of COVID-19.
Edward was a Company Officer (Lieutenant) with a paid, professional Fire Department where he proudly served his department and community. During his time as a Lieutenant, Edward ended up testing positive for COVID-19 (In December of 2020). His symptoms quickly escalated, and the illness ended up taking over his body. Edward ended up being transported by ambulance to the hospital and he was placed in Intensive care shortly after falling ill. The illness continued to worsen, and Edward eventually had to be transported to Albuquerque for more definitive, life saving treatments.
A “Go Fund Me” account has been set to hep his family cover basic needs, but more important, to help them with the cost of funeral expenses, and medical expenses they have incurred.
Without question, Edward always provided help to all those that needed it. Whether on the job, or when called upon by a family or friend, Edward was always there to respond when asked. For those that know Edward, we know what a great person, friend, husband, and father he was. But now, his family is the one that is in need of help and support.
