It has been nearly two years since Lt Col Schroeder displayed great heroism when he placed himself in grave danger to save the lives of others.  On 8 April 2016, Lt Col Schroeder found himself face-to-face with an armed assailant in the Forbes Hall building on Lackland AFB.  Without hesitation, he engaged in a fatal struggle with the assailant that let another staff member escape and ultimately led to the safety of countless others.  Lt Col Schroeder will always be remembered as a great hero.

On 6 April 2018, the Battlefield Airmen Training Group and 350th Battlefield Airmen Training Squadron will complete a Military Free-fall jump in honor of Lt Col Schroeder into Schroeder DZ.  At this time, the completed memorial will be unveiled to his family, friends and comrades.

The additions to the Schroeder DZ Memorial will include engraving  the CCT, SOWT, PJ, TACP crests, Airborne Jumpmaster Wings, 342nd TRS Unit Insignia and the "Whatever It Takes" Quote.  In addition, the funds will be used to cover the memorial ceremony reception and SR memorial t-shirts.  All remaining funds will be given directly to the Schroeder family.

All donations, big and small, are greatly appreciated and will go to ensuring the memory of this great hero lives on forever.

Ron Helm will be in charge of the coordination of funds.  He will be making arrangements to pay for the completion of the memorial, ceremony reception, and SR memorial t-shirts.  Ron will also be presenting Abby with a check for the remaining funds at the ceremony on 6 April 2018.
