LSP Fundraiser for Comfort Station Repairs

Tax deductible
During a cold snap in February, the pipes burst inside Comfort Station, causing massive flooding and damage to the interior of the building. The incident required extensive repairs to the original plasterwork, the plumbing system, and areas of the floor. The flooding also destroyed items and supplies stored near the pipes including, sadly, Comfort Station’s old “player piano,” a quirky instrument whose keys were graced by countless musicians and curious amateurs over the years.

The repairs alone have cost more than $5,000, which is a major setback for the budgets of both Comfort Station and Logan Square Preservation, which manages the upkeep of this historic building. Thankfully, the repairs are now complete, along with a fresh paint job, so we could remain on schedule with the opening of Comfort Station’s first solo artist exhibition in early April.

However, both organizations had to divert funds from other needed areas to cover these unforeseen expenses. So we’re asking our friends and community members to donate what you can to help us recoup this loss. If we surpass our initial $5,000 goal, any additional contributions will go toward the maintenance and beautification of this treasured historic building in Logan Square. And if all goes really well, with your help, we will replace the piano!
