TL;DR: I’m non-binary and have top surgery scheduled for Feb 6, 2025 but need financial assistance for what insurance won’t cover and for the unpaid time off for 6 weeks while I recover.

Long version: I came out socially as non-binary in the fall of 2019 and started using they/them pronouns. In the summer of 2021 I got my first chest binder, which made me feel euphoric in my body for the first time in a long time. Unfortunately, wearing a binder felt so constricting and uncomfortable that I wasn’t able to endure it for long and gave up wearing it altogether.

Since then, I have started HRT and have gone back and forth considering top surgery. I have struggled with not feeling like I am “trans enough” or that I don’t deserve to feel comfortable or happy in my body. Finally, this year I was able to afford a health insurance plan that would partially cover ”medically necessary” gender affirming surgery. I decided to do something positive for myself and pursue it. In May of this year I met with a surgeon who listened to my concerns and was understanding of my desires. My wonderful therapist wrote me a recommendation letter, and I now have a surgery set for Feb 6, 2025!

I am hoping to raise $5000. Here is a breakdown of my costs:
