Megan to Malaysia

Aloha!  My name is Megan and I am a special education teacher currently based in Honolulu, Hawaii.  I am thrilled to announce I was chosen to be part of the Limited Resource Teacher Training (LRTT) in Malaysia this summer.   I am passionate about education and believe quality education should be accessible FOR ALL. LRTT works with countries that have dealt with severe conflict and poverty, and do not have appropriate access to trained teachers and classroom resources.  I strongly believe that effective education is a long term, sustainble solution to poverty and enables meaningful conflict resolution.  LRTT began with 5 teachers in one country and has now reached 10 countries around the world.  It is my dream to have a global impact through education and I am humbled to have been chosen to help train teachers in my area of experitise, special education.  While in Malaysia, we will be observing teachers, giving feedback, leading conferences and providing training in areas of need.  I believe this program will make me a better teacher and leader, so that I too, can continue to have a postive impact on my students.  This program is not free and in order to go, I do need to fundraise.   The money I am hoping to raise will cover my program cost and a portion of my transportation.  The program cost is $1,660 which includes all of our accommodations, meals, all transport in Malaysia, conference costs, 24 hour support while in Malaysia and pre departure training.  Additional funds raised will go towards my airfare, travel insurance and vaccinations.  Our program starts August 7th and goes through August 28th.  Thank you so much for your consideration in supporting my LRTT trip.  This program is providing a life changing opportunity for not only me, but many other teachers, as well.  Most importantly, this program is supporting our future, the students these highly trained, skillful teachers will continue to lead, long after our program has ended.
