Nina is a beautiful, 25 year-old, loving mother, caring wife, fun, supportive friend, and an excellent coworker. When she's not busy at the pizzeria, she enjoys spending lots of family time with her husband Brian and gorgeous 1 1/2 year old daughter, Grace.
On December 12, 2014, Nina miscarried shortly after sharing the joy of expanding her and Brian's beautiful family. While this was and remains a heartbreaking event, it may have been what led Nina to discover what no one saw coming.
On February 4th, 2015, Nina was diagnosed with an aggressive Stage III breast and lymph node cancer. Fortunately, the oncologists are working even stronger. Determined to nip cancer in the butt a mediport was placed on February 5th, and February 6th Nina received her first dose of chemotherapy.
This fight will be a minimum of one year consisting of the strongest form of chemo once every three weeks, surgery in about four months to remove her breast and the involved lymph nodes followed by radiation to ensure destruction of any lingering cancerous cells. This process will also require numerous scans (PET & MRI) as well as bloodwork.
While Brian and Nina are determined to overcome this diagnosis, the cost will be enormous, both financially and emotionally. Brian will be exhausting his personal, sick and vacation time to be by Nina's side, aiding in her care and looking after their little girl.
