Loyce Sikakula's Tandala Orphanage

Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Chris. When my wife and I visited Malawi in 2019 we met a woman who is doing amazing work helping orphaned children in a village in the Monkey Bay area, Lake Malawi. In absolutely terrible conditions she is supporting, raising and educating 35 orphaned children. In the past year things have taken a turn for the worse, in Loyce's own words:

"It has been a sad experience for southern part of Malawi this year. Our side has really been traumatized. End 2023 our rainy season started and from the first days of rainfall, alot of places were damaged due to heavy rains' As always I had to plant my crops, and 90% work was done then from no where in February, then dry spell came in and all my crops dried up and alot of farmers lost a lot of crops. Since then food and other basics have really been scarce and very expensive at the market. But then since in the Northern and Central region they were receiving alot of rains it happened that from Somgwe River which is in the Northern part deposited the waters accumulated from the rains into Lake Malawi hence the water level has increased. We are within the banks of the lake, our crops and house have been flooded out".

With no government help available, as well as the poverty and the consequences of global warming, Loyce's orphanage is in dire straits. Your donation will help enormously. Loyce, as always, is optimistic and has plans for a proper hostel with proper bedrooms, living area and a library/study room. She needs at least $30,000 (approx. £24,000) to achieve this. This is our target.

I propose that all donations will be traceable and fully transparent from start to when and how the money raised will be spent. Due to international money restrictions and the fact the GoFundMe doesn’t send funds directly to Malawi I have set up a current account here in the UK and will send all cash to her via Western Union and keep receipts and evidence for every transfer. Loyce will send us photos and keep receipts for the money she spends.

Please donate what you can. Every little helps these poor, impoverished children.

The building work has started thanks to the donations already given. The children are really excited and want to do their bit to try and help the builders.

Here's an update (July 2024) to show you how Loyce is using your donation.

Dear Chris,
Thanks for your message. Thanks for these funds, I have withdrawed today, and I will busy some bags of cement and I will keep them so that with the next funds transfer, i can also buy the other cement for the concret of the floor. Am glad we have started. Let's keep going until this project comes into reality, and am happy to hear that Nathan has joined this campaign. I hope by uniting in this way we can achieve the best.
Big Hugs
