Loxy's Life at Risk: Surgery Funds Needed
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Josh Mael and I am asking for your help. My dog was hit by a car on Wednesday, July 9th, at my mom's house. I was at work while my mom and brother were watching him.
The car was a black sedan; the car did not stop after they hit him. We are looking for Ring camera footage for Ames and Dunbar Street Intersection. It would have been around 3:40-3:50 PM on July 9th, 2025, in Sharon, MA.
His tibia is fractured, and they are unsure about his fibula due to the X-ray positioning.
We are currently trying to find a vet to do the surgery for cheaper than the estimated $8-9K on top of the $4K that has already been spent.
$1100 was spent at Sharon Veterinary Clinic, and then he was referred to Tufts in Walpole, where another $2800 was spent.
They have ruled out any brain injuries and chest/lung damage.
He is in excruciating pain, which they finally got under control with Fentanyl and Ketamine.
They were originally concerned about bladder damage and bleeding; however, he has been consistently stable overnight and is hemodynamically stable. His urine output is clear/yellow and is stable.
They are recommending euthanasia if I cannot afford the surgery, and he is in a LOT of pain/cannot walk, so it is critical he has it done today or tomorrow.
I am waiting to hear back from other places that can do it for cheaper.
I do not want to even consider putting my precious Loxy to sleep when he is young and healthy. He is my companion and my world.
Thank you for helping us,
Josh and Loxy
