My name is Gala Ventós, and I’m raising funds to support the education of students with limited STEM resources.
Growing up with a love for biology and chemistry, I’ve realized how lucky I am to have microscopes and test tubes at my school. However, for millions of students in lower-income regions, science is something they read about in textbooks rather than experiencing first-hand.
To bridge this gap, I’ve developed a specialised manual breaking down complex concepts such as pH testing, the water movement in cells, and more, using low-resource tools and everyday items. To turn these ideas from my paper into the students’ hands, I need your support.
I wish to send 20 custom-built science toolkits to 10 different schools and refugee camps, starting with a project in Botswana this month. Additionally, I would like to donate resources, such as microscopes and other tools, to lower income schools in my area.
Each kit costs 30€ and includes test tubes, a test tube rack, beakers, pipettes, and any additional equipment specific to an experiment. Each one is designed to give students an opportunity to learn concepts through discovery rather than memorisation.
Your support doesn’t just buy materials, but rather sparks curiosity in a future doctor, engineer, or researcher who hasn’t been exposed to the practical side of science yet.
Thank you!
