Dear Neighbours, Family, and Friends,

I’m writing this with a heavy heart, as someone who has been lucky enough to witness the early days of something truly special.

In the early hours between Thursday, June 19th and Friday, June 20th, Lowlu - a young wellness venture based at the Paddle Yard Club in Wandsworth - was destroyed in a fire. Thankfully no one was hurt, but the space they had lovingly built over the past few months is gone.

Though it had only been open for two months, Lowlu was more than just a new business. It was a passion project brought to life with care, hard work, and an incredible sense of intention. Every visit felt personal. Every sauna session offered not only warmth but moments of genuine human connection. As someone who spent time there, I saw firsthand how they were slowly building something beautiful: a real sense of community, something rare and needed.

From chatting with strangers in the steam, to watching how the team listened so attentively to feedback - always trying to improve and make the space feel even more welcoming - it was clear that Lowlu wasn’t just offering a service. It was creating a home for people to decompress, heal, and connect.

And now, it’s gone.

Although the business was insured, the reality is that insurance rarely covers the full extent of a loss like this - especially for a new, small business just finding its feet. The next few weeks will be filled with uncertainty, stress, and financial strain, as they figure out how to recover and eventually rebuild.

That’s why I’m sharing this crowdfunding campaign. It’s not a formal announcement — just a personal invitation to help, if you feel moved to. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a real difference in helping Lowlu’s team get back on their feet. And just as importantly, it sends a message: that we see their efforts, we value what they’ve created, and we want to help them return, stronger than ever.
