Help Low-Income Students Attend Summer Camp!
Donation protected
My sister and I are fundraising to help provide the opportunity for low-income youth to attend summer camp!
Camp Kasota West is a United Church of Canada Summer Camp. They provide subsidies to help bring down the camp registration costs for low-income children and youth. However, due to Covid-19 and being closed for two years, it is more difficult financially this year for Camp Kasota West to provide the subsidies they were previously able to provide.
I teach a Mental Health Class in Calgary, and our goal is to raise enough funds to send 12 students to Camp Kasota West in the summer of 2022. Due to financial barriers, my students are unable to register for summer programs to keep them active and busy throughout the summer.
Attending summer camp is an incredible, life-changing experience, as it is the perfect environment for youth to take social risks. Youth learn and build social skills by meeting new people, building new friendships, and helping them to unplug from technology and their life in the city. Summer camp helps youth to enhance their self-esteem and develop risk-taking and conflict-resolution skills as they learn to make their own decisions without their parent’s help. To help support and foster mental health, attending summer camp would be an amazing opportunity for my students to have something to look forward to during their summer break.
Registration fees for each student are $455 per week. If we are able to raise more than our target goal, then we will be able to sponsor even more children and youth from agencies that contact Camp Kasota West who are in need of financial assistance!
Any donation amount is helpful to give children and youth the fun and enjoyable summer that they deserve.
Thank you for your support!
