Lowell Stevens, Double Lung Transplant recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tammie Fleming, and I am starting this go fund me for my very best friend and her family.
Lowell is 44-years old and has pretty much been healthy his entire life. He is a Veteran of The U.S. Army and has worked at Lowes for decades.
On November 26, 2020, Lowell was diagnosed with the end stages of Interstitial Lung Diseases, or ILD. Then, in May of 2021, Lowell was exposed to COVID at work, which later formed into Covid Pneumonia. As Lowell was already apart of the high-risk group due to his lung disease, COVID really took a toll. He began to drastically decline, as he was no longer able to do simple tasks as walking or talking without oxygen. By September 2021, the oxygen he was on was no longer useful and it was declared that Lowell would need an emergency double lung transplant. Lowell has been in the hospital since October 23 and received his transplant November 20. Unfortunately, the transplant did not go as planned. The surgeons at Duke aren’t quite sure what exactly happened or why his new lungs aren’t working. However, Lowell is currently in the ICU with two forms of life support and has been for over a week. In addition to his lungs not working, Lowell is also facing multiple organ failures. He has a long, long road ahead of him.
Lauri and Lowell are faced with numerous changes in their life, as well as numerous additional financial needs. They are currently faced with additional housing expenses while being in the hospital as Lauri is his caregiver and is unable to leave Lowell’s side for any lengthy amount of time or is she allowed to leave the Durham area. Hence, the reason why I am starting this GoFundMe page.
If you know Lauri or Lowell, then you know that these two would be helping in whatever way they possibly could if the roles were reversed.
I am asking for any help financially. However, if you are unable to donate, please say a prayer for my friends. Continuing prayers would be wonderful. <3 Any amount of donations would help. Please share this page as well.
Thank you and I will continue to update.
