Tyler Drews is a graduate from UNL and served in the US Navy. His true love is physical fitness and nutrition. He worked at lifetime fitness in operations but was pursuing his dream to become a personal trainer. His dreams were shattered on December 14 following a tragic accident. Tyler suffered a burst fracture to his L3 spine, obliterated equinal nerves, a spinal cord injury, a bimalleolar fracture to his ankle, a broken leg and multiple other injuries. His first spinal surgery on December 14 was 8.5 hours to remove bone fragments and a spinal fusion. On December 16 another spinal surgery was performed. On December 17 he had surgery to repair his ankle and leg. His prognosis is unclear at this time. We are praying very hard that he will recover and be able to walk again and regain control over his bowels and bladder. Tyler has been at Nebraska Medicine since December 14. He is determined to walk again and is waiting to be approved to go to Madonna Rehabilitative Hospital in Lincoln NE. His main goal right now is to take his little chihuahua LuLu for a long walk. They miss each other but we're able to reunite briefly while he was in the hospital. She was truly the best medicine he could have asked for.
