In Loving Memory of Walter Puls

Hi, my name is Alex Hussain, and I’ve had the privilege of calling Walter my best friend for nearly 30 years. We met in middle school, built countless memories together, started businesses, traveled the world, and shared so many firsts — first jobs, first weddings, first kids. Walter wasn’t just my friend; he was my brother.

On August 29, we lost Walter unexpectedly. He leaves behind his wife Hilary and their three beautiful children: Lily, Ruby, and little Walter. He loved his family more than anything in this world — every decision he made, every risk he took, every late-night conversation was rooted in wanting the very best for them.

Walter touched the lives of so many. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, of turning ordinary days into adventures, and of leaving you with stories you’d laugh about for years. His curiosity, his humor, and his boundless heart made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him.

Walter was also deeply committed to his community. He proudly served as a baseball coach and soccer coach for the Hartford, VT youth teams, helping kids grow their skills and confidence on and off the field. In the winters, he volunteered as a ski coach at the local Quechee Club hill, sharing his love of the outdoors and inspiring young athletes to challenge themselves.

Now, as Hilary and the kids face this unimaginable loss, many friends and loved ones have reached out asking how they can help. This fundraiser was created to support Walter’s family during this difficult time. The funds raised will go toward:

We’ve set an initial goal of $20,000, but anything you can give — no matter how small — will make a meaningful difference. More than that, we invite you to share your stories and memories of Walter here, so his children can see the incredible impact their dad had on the world around him.
