Loving on the Halterman Family

**Update: To our astonishment, but absolute joy, as of this morning (Feb 7th) Scottie is now in the presence of Jesus. ❤️ He went far more quickly than we anticipated, but we see it as an absolute grace. He was able to speak at their church yesterday, even went to lunch at his in-laws, to everyone’s surprise. The family had a great evening together last night. He was sound of mind & heart, talking with Tasha this morning. She left the room, and when they came back, he was gone. It was a beautiful death, full of grace and dignity. We can’t imagine what he must be seeing now. Thank you for any prayers you pray on the whole family’s behalf. ❤️

Hey all, I’m Tiffany and have been best friends with Tasha Halterman for 25 years (and eventually Scott, once he won her sweet little heart ❤️). As many of you have been aware, Scott has been facing an uphill battle with his health since he contracted an infection almost seven years ago, and had to fight for his life in the ICU for over 12 days. He experienced irreversible kidney damage at that time, and has been receiving dialysis several times a week since. I could go into a tremendous amount of detail concerning what has been going on with Scott’s health journey the last few years and months, but I’m going to try my best to keep it simple.

Recently, Scott has had some very serious issues that have led him and Tasha, along with the godly counsel of their family, close friends & spiritual mentors, to call in hospice care on Scott’s behalf. I know this is shocking, and hard to fathom, as Scott is still so young, & has greatly influenced so many of us in our pursuit and passion for Jesus. But believe me when I tell you that this family is absolutely beaming Christ in the midst of their suffering and grief.

Now, if we’re to be completely transparent here, Scottie—he’s going to be just fine. In fact, I’m not a little jealous (& mucho bitter) that he gets to see my Best Friend face-to-face before I do. Seriously. But friends, Tasha and the girls are going to need our love and support like never before. The family has already had such an outpouring of love from those rallying around them. Meals have been brought in, treasured visitors have flooded their doorway, church family have plowed, shoveled and made a way where there was no way (sorry, church kid here. Y’all know Scottie’s gonna laugh at that joke). But those of us who are close to Tash & Scott have been flooded with the question, “What can I do to help?” So we wanted to give you a way to do just that.

Here are needs that some of these funds can and will be used toward:

-Tasha has been and will be unable to work while they’re walking through this invaluable time together, so they won’t be receiving her normal pay.

-There is a great need to eventually make some serious house repairs that they’ve been unable to afford for some time. They own the house, but Tash is unsure of where they’ll be in future, if they will sell, etc. Regardless, we want options to be available to her by making sure the house is in great condition.

-Y’all, we want to provide little things for the girls… like them being able to get out of the house over the next few days during the time when hospice nurses come in. For them to just go get their nails done, see a movie, grab a frappe, get a bite to eat. Simple things that can bring a small bit of relief. They also are in their pre-teen/teen years, so they grow quickly, and could use clothes for the services that will be coming in the next few weeks.

I could share need after need, but I don’t think it’s necessary. If you know the Halterman’s, you know they’ve spent their lives giving, giving, giving—all for the sake of Jesus. We have such a beautiful opportunity to give right back, albeit in a different way, but not any less important.

The other night when I was with Scott, the last thing he whispered to me was “I need you. I need you to make sure my girls are okay. I need you to promise me.”

As I gave that much-loved man my word, my thoughts were “It’s not just me, Scott. There’s an entire army that will rise up to make sure your girls will be more than okay.”

And so we will, Scottie.
For you, for Jesus, for our girls ❤️
