Loving on Sara, Derrick, & Baby Bowen

Hi there! I’m the sister in law of Sara & Derrick and proud aunt of Bowen! I am organizing this gofundme for meals, hotel stays, flights, and medical costs so that Sara & Derrick can be present with baby Bowen and not have to worry about all the logistics and finances that come with NICU stays far from home. They will be there (Boston) for at least a month. Derrick will have to go back and forth from Bar Harbor, Maine to Boston.

About Bowen:

Bowen Levine Harrison was born at 10:05 am on July at 7.34lbs and 20 3/4” long. All seemed good, but on the first night, Bowen started to turn blue and he was helicoptered to another hospital in Maine that has a NICU. While there, it was discovered that Bowen has a congenital heart defect and needs surgery and speciality care. Basically in a nut shell Bowen’s little heart needs some veins reworked so his blood can be oxygenated better. Bowen and Sara were helicoptered to Boston Children’s Hospital so that he can get the be set care. Unfortunately, there was only room for one parent on the helicopter and Derrick is driving down from Bar Harbor. Bowen and is currently in surgery. Updates will be made as I get them.

Funds are needed for the following:

1) Food to nourish them while they stay at the hospital with Bowen. They will be spending hundreds of hours at his bedside and we don’t want them hungry!

2) Hotels/places to stay: They live 6 hours from Boston, so they will not be staying at home. They will need to stay close to the hospital, which is pricey in Boston.

3) Flights for Derrick. Derrick will need to go back and forth from home to Sara and Bowen in order to take care of things at home. He can get 10 non-stop flights for $1300. Flights will be critical for how much time he gets to spend with his family in the NICU.
