My name is Kaitlyn, and I’m starting this fundraiser for Koda. Koda is my first baby. My first pet, my first familiar, my first unconditional love, and my one and only baby boy. He’s only 10 years old, and I genuinely cannot believe I’m writing this.

What started with rapid weight loss turned into devastating news: Koda was found to have three large masses in his abdomen, two on his liver and one near his intestines, along with smaller liver nodules and abdominal fluid. Right now, we still don’t know if the masses are cancerous or benign, and his case is being referred to a specialist team to help us understand whether surgery or other treatments are possible. This has all happened so suddenly, and we are absolutely heartbroken. 

Koda, Stellaluna, and Mark are my family and when I think about our future, Koda is in it. He’s there for the milestones, the ordinary days, the next five years, the next ten. I’ve always joked that he’ll never die and will live FOREVER, because the alternative is something I genuinely cannot wrap my head around.

We’re asking for help so we can focus on giving Koda the best care possible as we learn more about his condition. Your support will help cover specialist appointments, diagnostic testing, biopsies, potential surgery, hospitalization, medication, ongoing treatment, and whatever other care he may need moving forward. His health, comfort, happiness, and life are our top priority, and we’re going to do everything in our power to help him through this. 

We have pet insurance and hope some of Koda’s expenses will be reimbursed, but there’s still so much we don’t know about his treatment, coverage, and overall costs. Donations will help us cover his medical care and whatever he may need moving forward.
