On the afternoon of Monday, September 12th, a horrible tragedy occurred at MK Auto Repair Shop that sent shockwaves throughout the close-knit community of Milton, Ontario. The shop owner, Shakeel Ashraf, who had gone out to get lunch for his staff, was mercilessly shot at point blank range by an assailant who had also taken the life of a police officer earlier that afternoon.

Shakeel was a beloved member of the community touching the lives of many people around him. He is remembered as an individual who loved spending quality time with his friends and family. Shakeel leaves behind his wife of 15 years (Dureshahwar) and two daughters aged 11 (Khadija) and 12 (Mahnoor). The girls are incredibly sad and struggling to accept the reality of their beloved father's passing. They continue to stare at the front door, hoping that he will walk in, like he always did, and hug them tight...

Having known Dureshahwar for over 15 years, many have asked me how they can support the young family during this tragic loss, so I am starting this fundraiser with the family's permission to ease some of their burden. Shakeel was an integral part of the Milton community and was involved in several charitable causes and community engagement programs. This fundraiser is also being opened to allow us to continue contributing to the philanthropic causes Shakeel was supporting to ensure his legacy lives on for years to come.
