Hello,
At 4:30 am on Tuesday, November 9th 2021, my uncle, Ernest Elliott suddenly started experiencing some strange symptoms: severe headache to the back of the head, inability to stand and walk, and violent vomiting. He was immediately rushed to the hospital for care. On our family’s insistence, we got him a CT scan that showed some mass abnormalities but not enough definition to give a proper diagnosis.
Subsequently, we had an MRI done and it revealed that a cavernous angioma/cavernoma in his cerebellum had been bleeding. The cerebellum is involved in the coordination of voluntary motor movement, balance, equilibrium, and muscle tone. As a result, he is experiencing difficulties with standing, walking, hand tremors, and slurred speech.
At the moment the situation is being managed with medication; however, an urgent surgery called embolization is necessary to prevent a recurrence and to address his current difficulties.
He currently resides in Belize; however, the surgery is not available there, and was advised by his neurologist to get the life-saving surgery done in Merida, Mexico at the earliest possible time.
The cost of the surgery alone is approximately $20,000, not including the necessary transportation, lodging, recovery/possible physical therapy, medication, and aftercare.
We have been actively raising funds on our own but we are also requesting your kind assistance in helping to cover the cost of surgery. Any amount you can contribute will be greatly appreciated. Please keep us in your prayers!
Thank you!
