Operations,Radiation & Relocation for Phil & Lovie
Phil and LaVelle Argol (Lovie Cooley)
I am reaching out today to ask for help for our friends Phil and Lovie, as they desperately need help
and would never ask for it themselves. The last few years have been difficult to say the least. Lovie injured her shoulder trying to catch her mom when she fell, her mom broke her back and Lovie had to get shoulder surgery to
repair torn ligaments and tendons. This forced her to find a care facility to care for her 94 year old
mom. Six months into recovery she fell and tore the screws and anchors out of her shoulder,
requiring a second surgery. A month after the second surgery, she was in the hospital for almost a
month with out physical therapy on shoulder, causing her shoulder surgery to fail. She now needs a
complete shoulder replacement on her right arm an a ulnar nerve repair in her left arm. She has
been in pain for the last two years and unable to do much with both of her arms.Once Covid hit, Phil was furloughed from The Ventura Players Casino, forcing them to live off of
credit cards for the past nine months, while Phil was anticipating a return to work. A few weeks ago he received the call that he was now laid off permanently, losing his health insurance. In the same week, he was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. He will need Radiation and Chemo Treatments and
possibly Surgery to remove his prostate if the tumor doesn’t go away with the treatments. They are now paying for Cobra which is over $500 a month. Unfortunately being laid off has forced them to have to relocate to Mississippi. The rent in CA is just to high and with no income, there is just no way to make it happen here. Lovie's brother passed away in January and left his house, in Mississippi to his daughter who has offered it to Phil and Lovie.
They will need to come up with $6000.00 to get caught up on the past due mortgage.
With the cost of a move across country, growing credit card debt, costs for Phillip's cancer
treatments and Lovie's total shoulder replacement, past due mortgage, they are left feeling frozen
and incapacitated not knowing which way to turn. They have to leave their friends and family at the
time they need them the most. They have to leave their mom in the care facility until they can find a way to move her when Covid is under control. Covid has really turned their life upside down in a
way they could have never of imagined. Please lets pull together and help them get through this.
Lovie and Phil have spent their life caring for others and now they need our help, because I
know they can not get through this without a little help from their friends.
We are aware that many people are currently going through financial issues so completely
understand if you cannot donate, but even just keeping Phil and Lovie in your thoughts
and prayers will be very much appreciated.
Thank You and God Bless,
Lots of love,
Ramey,
