Asante Parkins Support Fund

As some of you may know, Asante Parkins, a wonderful friend, brother, and son, has sadly passed away on June 7th, 2016.
Asante was a sophomore at NC Agricultural & Technical University in Greensboro, North Carolina, studying mechanical engineering. His brilliance earned him the title of Dowdy Scholar, A&T's highest merit scholarship and he was also named an Eagle Scout in 2015.
Asante is survived by his three sisters Assata, Amani, and Amaya, father Asante Rolando Parkins, and mother Tricia Barnes-Parkins. Asante attended Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology prior to his graduation in 2015 and was loved by friends and faculty alike. His mother, Mrs. Barnes-Parkins, lovingly called Mrs. BP by her students, teaches AP English at the same high school. Her heavy involvement in student activities and school events endeared her to her pupils.
Asante's untimely departure left the Parkins family as well as the tight-knit Phillip O. Berry community reeling in grief. It is with a heavy heart that we ask you for your help in providing the Parkins family with the financial support they deserve.
This campaign is set up by students of Mrs. Barnes-Parkins and all proceeds will go directly toward the Parkins family to help them recover the costs of services and aid them on their journey to recover from this tragic loss. Asante and the Parkins family has played such a huge part in our lives here at Phillip O. Berry and beyond, please help us give back to them in this time of need.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at Parkwood Institutional CME Church, 802 Tom Hunter Road, Charlotte. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m.
