At 2:30 AM on Tuesday 2/12 my dog, a 9 year old german shorthaired pointer named Lukas, collapsed and had a seizure or seizure like episode. Since then, he has remained weak and unbalanced. He has had an MRI, spinal tap, abdominal ultrasound, chest X-rays, and full blood work - all of which came back normal (which is great!) but we still don't have answers. It has been recommended that he is tested for myasthenia gravis as well as have a cardiologist consultation, and a second opinion from a different neurologist. The myasthenia gravis test was sent out today (and will take 5-7 business days to get results). He has an appointment with a cardiologist on Thursday of next week. I am in the process of getting him in with another neurologist. Thankfully I have pet insurance which has helped with a great deal of the costs (over $7000), however I have so far paid $1600 out of pocket and with the upcoming tests and consultations, I will spend an estimated total of $2500. Anyone who feels led to donate, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you and much love from me and Lukas.
