We are Emily and Drew, a married couple, experienced bakers with a dream to own a family business. Our love story began after we met at "Le Panier Bakery" back in 2007. After working there together for about four years we continued to follow each other around to work at a few different Seattle bakeries. We obviously just couldn't get enough of each other! We have always had the dream of owning our own business, and now we are creating the life we have always wanted. We both have over 14 years of experience in the industry and have learned new things at each job we have had. We are excited to be able to use our combined skill sets to work creatively and bring joy to other people. Family is the most important thing to us and is our main inspiration for Lovely and Dapper Desserts. We believe in supporting small businesses and taking care of our community.
We make Tin Can Cakes-small personal cakes designed to be enjoyed by you or shared with someone special. We believe everyone deserves their own beautiful cake.
Drew created and served Tin Can Cakes at the Seattle restaurant, "The Sitting Room" where he was the pastry chef about 20 years ago. Now we use cake molds for safety and efficiency but they still have the tin can shape and size.
We love to use special family recipes, for example "Mom's Crazy Chocolate Cake" was one of the first things Emily learned to bake with her mom as a child. We enjoy using old family recipes that bring back fond memories and have a story behind them.
We over 25 flavors that rotate seasonally. We offer gluten free, dairy free, and vegan options as well. We love to use local ingredients in our cakes such as local Jam from Mccormick Jam Co, Honey from Shipwreck Apiaries, Beer from Logan Brewing and Good Society, Cider from Locust Cider, Tea from Encore Tea and Chocolates, Coffee from Lighthouse Coffee Roasters and more.
Our first event was the Fall City Apple Festival at the Northwest Natural Horsemanship Center in Fall City, WA. We had so much fun and we sold out early! We made two flavors, Mom's Crazy Chocolate Cake and Apple Pie Cake. We sold our cakes at wholesale cost to the center and the proceeds went to their NWNHC Family Fund. It was a great way to test our skills and get some great exposure.
Our second event was a Pop-Up at Seattle Yarn in West Seattle. We served three of our flavors, "The Apple Pie Cake", "The Pumpkin Patch", and "The Cherry and the Chocolate" (GF, DF, V). It was a big success, we sold out almost two hours early! We met a lot of really great people; making connections in our community is a big part of why we love what we do. We are so excited for our next Pop-up which will be at C&P Coffee in West Seattle on November 6th.
Over the last six months we have done many pop-ups around Seattle and Burien. We are also at the Burien Farmers Market on Thursdays and are on the wait-list for the Ballard Farmers Market. We have some really fun markets and festivals coming up that we are excited about! We also offer online ordering and special orders.
